Center Associate Spotlight: Asset Network for Education Worldwide (ANEW)
Article from Nonprofit Directions (www.nonprofitjobscoop.org), by Alice Ngo
LOS ANGELES, CA – [May 30, 2007] – Many nonprofits find it difficult to spread the word about their mission, and they also struggle to stay current with the endeavors of other nonprofits. One way nonprofit employees can stay in the loop is by attending trainings. CNM seminars offer vital networking opportunities, and our monthly e-newsletter keeps you updated with the latest news from the Center. Read below to see how two of our Center Associates connected with each other through our e-newsletter:
"We see ourselves getting launched at the Center. After visiting your facility, we think brightly about the Future and plan to use all your resources extensively." says Center Associate Rose Tourje, Founder of Asset Network for Education Worldwide (ANEW) Foundation. Established in 2005, ANEW collects, organizes and repurposes surplus furniture, fixtures and equipment for donation to the underprivileged and those who serve them. Rose terms their practice as "Social Sustainability"- where assets are removed in an environmentally, fiscally and socially responsible way.
ANEW is quickly making an impact in the nonprofit community. One such example is through their partnership with Bentley Prince Street, one of the largest sustainable carpet manufacturers in California. Bentley Prince Street donated 1,800 feet of new carpet to ANEW. ANEW then gifted the carpet to fellow Center Associate Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC). The Center Associates connected through CNM's December e-newsletter, and Debra Fong of LTSC states that "Our old carpet is run-down and a safety hazard. Thanks to ANEW's donation of 1,800 square feet of carpet tiles and furniture, we will be able to remodel our offices with fewer expenses!"
If your organization would like to donate or receive furniture, please contact Shula Udoff, Corporate Secretary, ANEW, at shula.udoff@anewfound.org or visit www.anewfound.org.
